เครื่องคอมพิวเตอร์ที่ติดตั้งระบบปฏิบัติการ edubuntu (เอ็ดอูบันตู)
edubuntu ประกอบไปด้วย Application จาก Software Center แล้วนำมาจัดกลุ่มเพื่อสนับสนุนการเรียนการสอนในแต่ละช่วงชั้นปี

- ubuntu-edu-secondary - Secondary ( ages 13-18) educational application bundle
- ubuntu-edu-tertiary - Tertiary ( university level ) educational application bundle
สำหรับโรงเรียน ปอเนาะ จะมีการเรียนการสอนภาษา อาหรับ ด้วยดังนั้นจึงต้องมีการติดตั้ง คีย์บอร์ดภาษา Arabic(QWERTY) หมายถึงคียฺบอร์ด ภาษา อารบิคที่ใช้แป้นพิมพ์ QWERTY ซึ่งก็คือคีย์บอร์ดที่เราใช้ปกติมีการเรียงแป้นพิมพ์ตัวอักษรแถวบนเริมต้นด้วยตัว Q

ซอฟต์แวร์ที่ใช้ในการพิมพ์เอกสารบน edubuntu ก็คือ LibreOffice : ในชุดออฟฟิศนี้ประกอบไปด้วย Writer ใช้แทน Word มี cal ใช้แทน excel และมี impress ใช้แทน power point สามรถใช้งานได้เป็นอย่างดี
สำหรับ edubuntu นั้นออกแบบมาให้รองรับการทำงานแบบ Terminal server หมายความว่าถ้าเรามีเครื่องคอมพิวเตอร์ที่ไม่มี Hard disk ก็สามารถใช้งานคอมพิวเตอร์ได้โดยจะใช้การเชื่อมต่อผ่าน network adapterLTSP (Linux terminal Server Project)
โดยที่เครื่องลูกค่ายให้ตั้งค่า Boot order ผ่าน Ethernet card หรือที่เราเรียกกันว่า Lan card โครงการนี้เรียกอีกชื่อหนึ่งว่า Thin Client Solution สามารถศึกษารายละเอียดโครงการนี้ได้ที่ http://www.ltsp.org
